The Stranger has lots good to say about El Gallito ( 1700 - 20th Ave), our neighborhood Mexican restaurant. One comment notes the increase in business after Club Chocolate City closed. A longer Stranger review is similarly positive. Citysearch reviews are mostly positive.
El Gallito has been there for most of the 25+ years I've lived here. It's suffered from some of the Madison Street side-effects (had all its liquor stolen soon after it got a license) but has soldiered on through it all. I'm glad that they're reaping the benefits now.

It's one of my favorites, and many of my friends'. I'm glad you're calling that out.

El Gallito is great .. but I still miss the fabulous "it's time to eat!" sign
